Victoria is planned to have a second global gateway under a plan for creating jobs and boosting the status of Melbourne to be a world city. With the blueprint worth millions of dollars, Avalon Airport, which is between Melbourne and Geelong, will become an international airport with a retail precinct and hotel. Ted Baillieu, the liberal leader, will submit the plan, of which has been anticipated to be welcomed by Linfox, as well as Geelong local government and business leaders, to be a nation-building plan.

Mr. Baillieu predicts that a new global terminal at Avalon Airport will attract around 2 million passengers every year, creating around 400 jobs and providing hundreds of millions in tourism benefits, as well as others, to the Surf Coast, Geelong, Melbourne, and the Bellarine Peninsula. He said that Queensland has 3 global airports, and Victoria is need of another one.

Mr. Baillieu pledges that if he is to win the next election, then he will ease the planning restrictions of the state to make sure that the Avalon Airport will be developed into holding international status. He will reveal the Avalon Airport push from the Opposition during his keynote address in a state council meeting on Saturday, August 23rd, in Geelong. He is anticipated to say that he wants Geelong to be set free and that Avalon Airport is in an ideal location to become a transport hub for the region due to their access to major roads, trains, and ports.
